ANOTHER week for Cross Keys, another emphatic bonus point victory for the Gwent Valleys side after they gave Swansea a harsh lesson with a clinical display of outstanding attacking rugby.

Their sublime offloading was a joy to watch at times as they built up a 31-0 lead over the hapless All Whites by half-time.

Neath were the victims seven days ago in a 48-3 defeat and it was another of Welsh rugby’s old great clubs who were the whipping boys this time.

Winless Swansea are finding it hard to adjust to life in the Premiership after their promotion from the Championship last season.

There are no such problems on the field for Keys are now very much back in the swing of things with two impressive wins from two after two successive defeats in their opening games.

Things will get decidedly more difficult next week however when they travel to a Carmarthen Quins smarting from a 17-12 home defeat to RGC 1404.

Keys got off the mark after just two minutes with what could already be the try of the season, number eight Ieuan Jones crashing over after forwards and backs had combined to push the visitors from right to left and exploit huge gaps already.

Openside and captain Scott Matthews increased the All Whites’ pain when he scored a superb individual try, showing great hands to hold on to the ball and tear through, fly half Ethan Davies converting to make it 12-0 after just six minutes.

The West Walians rallied and put Keys under some pressure, their No 10 Phil Jones producing gasps when he missed a penalty in front of the posts.

They had a 15-minute purple patch but had nothing to show for it, the slick and clinical Keys side getting their third try after Matthews and second row Tom Lampard combined brilliantly before wing Mathew Powell finished well in the corner.

Another counterattack showed Keys off at their best again to score their bonus point try after locks Lampard and Dan Hodge produced outstanding offloads before scrum half Owain Leonard finished off the sparkling move for a converted score to make it 24-0 in almost as many minutes.

Another lovely Lampard offload, this time from an attacking lineout, put Matthews through for his second just before the interval, Davies nailing the conversion.

The half ended with Keys 31-0 up.

Swansea started the second half with real intent and their outside half Phil Jones did well to cross for a converted try after 42 minutes following a sustained period of pressure.

To their credit, the All Whites never threw in the towel and knocked Keys off their stride for the second 40 minutes, ‘winning’ the second half 19-12.

Swansea scored their second try in spectacular fashion when centre Ryan Evans crossed with just over a quarter of an hour to go for a gem of a try.

Keys finally got on the scoreboard in the second half when their excellent No 7 Matthews got his hat trick from a driving lineout, just seven days after a brace against Neath.

Five tries in two games wouldn’t be a bad return for a winger, never mind a back row forward.

Davies’ conversion made it 38-12.

A magical offload by Powell saw Keys get another with three minutes to go when it was picked up by excellent blindside flanker Josh Skinner for his side’s seventh try.

Replacement loosehead Gwesyn Price-Jones and hooker Darren Hughes were yellow carded at the death after Keys were guilty of giving away too many penalties.

The All Whites got their third consolation try when wing Richard Williams crossed in the corner in the final seconds, replacement outside half Julian Mogg converting.

There was good news for Newport Gwent Dragons fans with outside half Dorian Jones coming on as a second half replacement for Keys after a long absence with a chest muscle injury.
