FIRE crews from Duffryn and Malpas were called to a deliberately started fire on a canal barge in Risca on Thursday evening.
The barge was located on the stretch of canal close to Darran Road, with firefighters arriving at the scene just after 8.15pm.
No-one was on-board at the time and the fire had been put out by the time the crews arrived, but firefighters made the barge safe and checked for any hotspots.
