THIS year's Blackwood Carnival has offered its full support to a trust set up in memory of Tunisia terror attack victim Trudy Jones.

Blackwood Town Council arranges the annual carnival on the first Saturday of every August and has decided to give all donation it receives as part of Saturday's event towards the Trudy Jones Trust Fund.

A parade of vehicles and walkers starts at 12pm prompt and will consist of marching bands, local organisations and associations.

On arrival at the Civic Centre Grounds there will be fancy dress, live music, dance displays, animal exhibits, craft and charity stalls as well as a fun fair and a chance to see a T-Rex dinosaur show.

Granville Hale, chairman of the event's committee, said: "I saw a piece in the Argus last week about the charity motorbike ride and fun day and that triggered me off and I thought 'what a good opportunity for the Trust to capitalise on the carnival'."

Ms Jones, a 51-year-old mother-of-four, was described as “loving, caring and popular” by her family as she was laid to rest earlier this month. She was among the 38 people tragically killed when a gunman opened fire on tourists in Sousse on Friday, June 26.

On Saturday, August 29, there will be a sponsored motorbike ride ride from Blackwood ambulance station to Newbridge Rugby Club. The ride will be followed by a family fun day at the club with music, entertainment and a bouncy castle.
