An 18-YEAR-OLD man from the Risca area has been arrested for Breaching a Dispersal Order this weekend.
The Dispersal Order was in place from 3pm on Friday 15th May to 3pm on Sunday 17th May 2015 following reports from residents of anti-social behaviour including youths verbally abusing local people, causing a nuisance in Abercarn Library and generally intimidating the local community.
Officers arrested the man on the evening of Saturday 16th May for returning to the dispersal zone following his exclusion from the area on Friday evening. He has now been bailed pending further enquiries.
These orders provide Police Officers and Community Support Officers with the powers to direct anyone to leave a specified area if they are involved in anti-social behaviour. If they return to that area after being moved on, they face being arrested.
The designated areas of the order included: High Street (including the bus stop), Bridge Street (including adjoining rear lane), Islwyn street (including the bus station), Dan Y Rhiw, including all adjoining and unnamed lanes, alleyways, thoroughfares and car parks, Dyffryn Court. including access at the end to river bank.
